COVID-19 brings another layer of fear and stress to the lives of our Ronald McDonald House families. Thanks to an amazing board, staff and community, we’ve been able to continue caring for our families throughout the pandemic, including the continued use of hotel rooms. We introduce families into the Houses in specific cohorts with screening requirements. For those that cannot check in right away, hotels allow immediate support for families of hospitalized children. We’re pleased to report our two Houses have been open and operating since June in the safest way possible. We greatly miss our volunteers and Family Dinner Groups and hope they can return sometime in 2021. Although our common living areas must remain closed, we know from our families that laying their heads down at night in a House full of people who truly understand their journey offers great comfort.
The Tooth Truck has also been back in operation since June after a 10-week hiatus. During our downtime, Dr. Sarah, Mindy and staff created a COVID operations plan based on ADA guidelines, AND they joined the Ronald McDonald House staff in checking off their “someday” lists. We have an electronic registration process for patients that only requires a mobile phone so if schools are open on limited days or students participate only online, the Tooth Truck is still easily accessible!
As you know, our safety measures are important and necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We know the coronavirus has significantly impacted your life as well. To have your love and support during this tough time for all means more than you know. We encourage you to get involved through one of our giving campaigns or by Sharing a Meal or Night. You will make a world of difference for those who need us.
We hope you stay safe and well!
All the best,

Bonnie Keller
